The Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival celebrates 24 years this year, and the 2015 festivities are expected to be the biggest and best yet. The event, which runs from April 30th through May 10th, will feature more than 50 world-class musicians and artists against the naturally stunning backdrop of Pigeon Island National Landmark. Festival attendees can enjoy free and paid performances by some of music’s hottest acts, including headliners Robin Thicke and Flo Rida. Read on to find out what else the festival has in store for its lucky guests this year.
From Couture Fashion to Five-Star Food
Back for the third year in a row is “Saint Lucia Hot Couture,” an international fashion show. Fashion enthusiasts expect the show to quickly earn a top spot on the international fashion calendar “as a showcase for both established and rising stars in design”, according to the festival’s website. The fashion show takes place on May 6th at the Johnsons Center. You can choose between general and VIP tickets that range from $60 to $80 USD.
Attendees will be full to the brim consuming all of the Caribbean culture – and food – the event has to offer. One of the festival’s venues is a restaurant – the Fire Grill Steakhouse in Rodney Bay. Patrons can enjoy delicious rums and prime Angus steaks just a few feet away from the jazz stage. Guests will also find stands selling food, Piton beer, and premium rum drinks around the festival grounds. The event’s culinary director is Chef Orlando Satchell, Le Cordon Bleu demonstrator and owner of his own restaurant in Soufriere.
Arts, Crafts, Music, and More
Some of the world’s most highly acclaimed artisans will display and sell their wares at this year’s festival. The event’s visual arts exhibition is free and runs from May 6th through the 11th. Of course, the festival prides itself on its music and will feature jazz and other musical acts every night. Flo Rida performs on the main stage May 9th, and Robin Thicke closes the festival with his May 10th performance.
Whether you’re a “wild one” or just want to “blur the lines” between high culture and quality entertainment, the 2015 Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival is a can’t-miss gala. Fashionistas, gourmands, art aficionados, and music buffs alike are sure to have a blast at the Caribbean’s foremost cultural event.
