Hey everyone! Guess what? I’m Riley and I’m six. I’m on the coolest vacation ever with my parents at Coconut Bay right on the beach!
Before going to the CocoLand Kidz Klub this morning, we ate at the Coconut Walk restaurant. It was amazing. They even served my coconut water straight out of a real coconut – and coconuts are big! Then I had to decide what to eat. There was a lot of food, but I love French toast. I never had it so big and fluffy before. The chef even told me they baked the bread fresh in the morning. No wonder it tasted so good. I ate every bit and the yummy fresh fruit that was already cut up. Tomorrow I already decided I’m getting the pancakes I saw chef making with as much whipped cream and chocolate syrup as I want.
After breakfast, we crossed the bridge at the waterpark and went to the awesome Kidz Klub. It was gigantic. There was a big picture of sea turtles, and outside, a Pirate Ship to climb and a water playground with spraying fountains and raining mushrooms. As soon as I walked in, I got the best surprise – a free backpack. Inside there was a water bottle, a t-shirt, a hat, and a book to color. The super nice lady said they’d even help me make a photo book to remember all the crazy cool things I did.
Then, I got to meet all the other kids in the Friendship Circle and I made a best friend named Maya. We “bowled” outside, except instead of boring balls we rolled coconuts. It was really funny trying to knock down the pins, but we were champions. We also had a water balloon battle – they were super slippery, and boom, getting wet was okay because next stop: the waterpark. It’s huge. We raced down the waterslides and splash-landed in the pool.
My tummy grumbled by lunchtime, so I had pizza with my parents at Flip Flops. It was perfect because I could get my very own. I asked for extra cheese and black olives just the way I like it. It was crispy and disappeared like magic. Then I went to Coconut Walk and for dessert they were spinning cotton candy, Maya calls it candy floss, I might start calling it that too. It melted in my mouth. The next time we have dinner here I get to order an ice cream sundae, and I get to pick all the flavors, toppings and even sprinkles. I wonder what I’ll choose? I know it will be the best.
We heard them announce on the speaker that there was a Family Scavenger Hunt, and we ran around like crazy following clues and taking selfies. I even petted goats at the Coco Corral. More clues led us to the Lazy River and then a giant chair we all piled into.
I wanted to go to the beach, so we walked in the sand to the Surf Shack. My parents grabbed paddleboards, and I rode on the front of my mom’s like a pirate captain while she paddled us both around in the water. And then I stood up on the board and paddled by myself, I was so excited I did it. We sat at the beach for a while, and it was nice to rest in the sun. Then we went into the Splash pool, and there was a bar just for kids, and I got a slushy. It was icy and really good. There’s still lots and lots to do and on Wednesday, Family Tie Dye Day, I’m even going to make my own t-shirt in my favorite colors.
Later, for dinner, we had a pool party. I even got a cool hat made out of palm tree leaves. There was a massive buffet with all sorts of delicious food, even huge fish on the grill. I got my favorites: BBQ chicken, beans, and a buttered roll, with seconds. I had potato salad too, but, surprise, it was made from green bananas. I really liked it a lot. The people here in Saint Lucia have it all the time and here’s something you’ll never guess; the green bananas are called green figs here!
It wasn’t just food, though; there was a band on stage and a show with people in costumes. Then these amazing dancers came out on super tall stilts. I couldn’t believe they didn’t fall; I don’t know how they did it, but I’d like to try it someday. There was even a fire-breathing guy who twirled a flaming stick around that looked like fireworks! But the best part? They started a conga line, a giant people train. Me, Maya, and my other new friends from the Kidz Klub jumped on, and we danced around the pool and in and out of the tables trying to hold on to each other. It was the perfect end to the best day ever!
If you’re ever looking for a super fun place to take your parents, Coconut Bay is the place. I had a lot of fun with my friends and with my family, and I got to eat all my favorite things – even new stuff. I can’t wait to come back again.
