Independence Day
February 22 marks Saint Lucia’s Independence Day. This is the day in 1979 when the island became independent from Great Britain. It’s celebrated with cultural activities and historical events. At Coconut Bay, you can learn more about the island through the resort’s on-site activities which include a rum tasting of locally-produced specialties.
Saint Lucia Jazz Festival
If you appreciate jazz music, plan your visit to Coconut Bay between May 5 and 12. During this week, the island of Saint Lucia comes alive with exhilarating Caribbean, international, and jazz music. At Coconut Bay, you can see the stylings of jazz musician Barbara Cadet and jazz and blues musician Monty Maxwell in our lineup of weekly entertainment. Saint Lucia Carnival
Carnival typically falls around mid-July in Saint Lucia. This lively festival includes pageants, parties, and plenty of dancing in the streets. Coconut Bay hosts mask making, a parade, and a costume display. As always, there’s plenty of live music to enjoy. The resort kicks the party atmosphere up a notch for Carnival and even features a soca beach party with colored powder and paint.
Chocolate Heritage Month
August is Chocolate Heritage Month, so those with a sweet tooth can rejoice. Come to Saint Lucia to enjoy all things rich and chocolately on the island where this decadent treat is made. Every Friday throughout the month, Coconut Bay serves up a chocolate buffet complete with a chocolate fondue fountain and appropriately flavored drinks like the Dirty Banana or chocolate martini. Guests wishing to visit one of the island’s chocolate plantations can arrange to do so with a private tour arranged through our resort Adventure Desk.
Jounen Kweyol
Jounen Kewyol, or Creole Day, is a cultural celebration of the unique Saint Lucian Creole culture present on the island. Celebrated on the last Sunday in October, the event draws people into the streets donned in traditional madras cloth. The staff at Coconut Bay shares the excitement of the holiday with guests through traditional folklore, music, and activities.
